Are you prepared to fight the summer slump?
The recent hot weather in the UK is causing club attendance to drop, and the massive sporting summer which is around the corner is more likely to compound rather than reverse this effect. It would be great if the Olympics generated a load of newly motivated members, but in reality, we need to go the extra yard to keep them.
If you already have a plan in place to fight for your members' attention through the summer months, then you will need to step it up a gear in 2012 as members are distracted by Euro 2012, Wimbledon, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Themed competitions and parties will bring members (and guests) down to your venue. You also need to address your absentees throughout the summer, and then offer amnesties to encourage the rest to come back and make the most of the legacy that the olympics will create.
- Olympic challenges (Triathlon, Pentathlon, Decathon, etc)
- Special Memberships, Guest Passes
- Outdoor classes, sports days
- Events, parties, bring your friends down to 'club' to watch the football
- e-mails, texts, letters to absent members
- more encouragement to return after the summer of sport
- Social Media campaign tie-ins
- free bananas
