SLL Olympic Challenge - Congratulations to the winners!

Congratulations to North Herts Leisure Centre, Silsoe Community Sports Centre and Archers Hitchin for placing first, second and third respectively in the recent SLL (Stevenage Leisure Limited) Olympic challenge. And well done to all sites that took part, and all the members who competed and won prizes.

The challenge ran for 3 weeks during the Rio Olympics, and members had to complete a simple challenge card by taking part in 10 events. These included gym activities such as a run, a row, a ride, a resistance exercise, taking part in a class, and site specific activities like swimming, sports sessions, or a climbing wall.

The overall aim was to engage with more members in the normally quiet month of August, and to get more members to try new activities and exercises. As well as a sense of achievement by completing the challenge, members were entered into a draw at each site to win a Technogym goody bag (donated by Technogym, along with spot prizes of Technogym water bottles). The 12 sites competed against each other too, measuring the number of members taking part, and total completions as a percentage of active members. GGFit donated vouchers to the 3 sites at the top of the medal table.

Member and staff feedback was positive; several members upgraded their memberships to include classes or additional activities. It was hard to get lots of members involved in August, and some sites will dedicate staff to future challenges if possible, but overall the Olympic challenge created a great buzz around SLL.
