It was a pleasure to be involved in the eGym insights roadshows in September 2019. We met with eGym clients, prospects and partners up and down the country, and had some great discussions and debates. While the brief was to deliver educational content to “activate your gym for success” we learnt a lot from the delegates too, and from our fellow presenters, of course.
Kerstin Obenauer (eGym Country Director UK) opened each event with introductions and a request for delegates wants and needs for the day. Nearly all attendees were looking for ideas and experience around sales and retention, and of course, several were keen to hear of the latest eGym developments.
Jack Connors from ukactive delivered a great session on technology as a fitness enabler, talking with his usual erudite enthusiasm about everyday trends, active digital, and connected gyms. It was a great (eye) opener for many delegates, who now understand the Open Data Initiative, and the what the FitTech opportunity means to their club.
David Bishop from Netpulse next presented a session on the latest developments in app technology, discussing push notifications, challenges, rewards and a lot more. This led into an app demo with Michael Kloncz from eGym. At the same time, a parallel stream of delegates took in a demo of the latest eGym circuit at the venue that was hosting us.
After lunch, Guy Griffiths from GGFit ran a quick quiz, before talking about member onboarding best practices, with tips and tricks on measuring and improving retention. Tanya Hall (eGym) spoke about customer loyalty, and finally, Simon Beer and Michael Dulku from BigWave Media presented a sales and marketing masterclass.

Thanks to eGym for inviting us to share in the workshops, we learnt a lot and got some great feedback. Thanks also to the hosting locations; we visited Gambaru Fitness in Harrogate (Yorkshire), Gifford Lea Retirement Village in Tattenhall (Cheshire), eActiv Health Lounge in Egham (Surrey), and Club Kingswood in Basildon (Essex).
