The Fitness Business Network Podcast - Why?

Podcasts are awesome. To borrow from a Public Service Broadcasting album title (or the BBC mission), they Inform, Educate, and Entertain. And I’m proud to say that we’ve put out an episode with the Fitness Business Network. We hope you’ll find it Informative and Educational, and that it helps you to retain your members.

I’ve been plugged into a whole bunch of podcasts since 2008. A good podcast helps make running more interesting, or to help make a long drive more entertaining. Favourites include Startup (or anything by Gimlet Media), Freakonomics Radio, Distraction Pieces with Scroobius Pop, The Infinite Monkey Cage, The Joy of Six, No Such Thing As A Fish, Friday Night Comedy from BBC Radio 4, and Adam Buxton, to name a few.

There’s lots of content in the fitness space, but mainly focusing on the fitness consumer, rather than the club or business. The Australians are pushing the boundaries with the Fitness Business Podcast. Now, based out of the UK, (not to be confused with the above), we have the Fitness Business Network Podcast. Backed with great blog, and hosted by Richard Parsons, the show promises to bring you content that you can use in your club straight away to help improve your business.

The first episode features Colin Milner, the CEO of the International Council on Active Aging, talking about marketing to the most important demographic.
We planned for episode two to take 30-40 minutes, but while we did our best to keep the retention tips simple, there is a full hour of discussion between myself and Richard on how to ensure your new members are going to stick around.

As well as the link above, you can access the podcast direct in itunes, where you can also rate and subscribe. Or go direct to the Fitness Business Network and just download the file. Feedback so far has been great, please feel free to leave comments below.
